CD Chapter Twenty-Nine

I had known that their times were coming, but when my mother died I was just startled.  I’m not talking about KiKi, I’m talking about Bella.

I didn’t find out that KiKi had passed away until later when we went to find her to tell her the news.  We knew that the cause was natural, so we didn’t get an autopsy done, but the coroners office declared that KiKi had died just a few minutes before Bella.

Bella’s last moments were pain filled, but not physically.  It was honestly as if she knew she’d just lost her wife, like she couldn’t bear to be without her for even an hour.  It’s romantic in a severely heart wrenching way, and now I am an orphan.

Of course, I continued to work during my pregnancy, and my alien friend (who had since confirmed my suspicions) seemed absolutely fascinated by a female carrying a child, apparently that was not how it was done in his culture.

Working helped me forget I was even pregnant, I didn’t have any nausea, I wasn’t running to vomit every twelve minutes, working made everything better.

Currently one of my tasks was to work on a rocket, and I was finding it fascinating, the doors it would open up, the many things I would learn by visiting space.

CD Chapter Twenty-Seven

Pregnancy was much harder than I thought it would be, even just starting out I was vomiting all the time.

I could hardly concentrate on my work with all my plagues of the ‘miracle of life’ and I ended up breaking quite a few of my machines.

Weirder yet was that Christian was showing some serious signs of pregnancy himself, something I thought was impossible, but then again, it was also often thought that two females couldn’t have a baby together- and yet here I am.

CD Chapter Twenty-Six

Christian and I developed a relationship relatively fast because, to be honest, I wanted to just get this whole kids thing out of the way and get on with my career.  Christian and I did not marry, I didn’t see the point, he wasn’t my equal, not even close, but he was convenient for a romantic relationship, purely romantic.  We were friends, but nothing more.

When I found out I was pregnant I was rather excited, it was strange, I didn’t expect to be so excited at all.  Christian was pretty thrilled too, just not openly, I am sure.  We both knew what our relationship was, for the benefit of my mothers and that we weren’t ever really going to be together.  Basically, we were to reproduce and that was the end of the story.  I have other plans in store for my life.

CD Chapter Twenty-Five

I took him to the museum, and honestly, though I was a little frustrated with the whole situation, if I made this work, if I played my cards right, my mothers would leave me alone and butt out of my life, so perhaps it was ideal to just go with their plan for now.

Oh yea, his name is Christian, if you’re wondering.

And I can’t flirt to save my life.  It’s like all I know is the lab and I don’t know how to interact with people inferior to me.

The museum wasn’t working for us, it made everything stiff and hard so we went to a small park instead.  That seemed to be a little bit better.

A little bit.
